Johanesburg South Africa , On Sunday 11 August, Kwesta the king of African Rap celebrated his birthday by releasing his latest offering titled Reporting Live From Katlehong and featuring Capetown rap royalty, YoungstaCPT.

“My heard is still in this rap like turban. Observant, I just don’t fight to keep words ‘cos once you think it you know it all then you stop learning… I’m still picture perfect and I can tell I pose threats from the shots they keep sending. Kwesta, that’s an adjective it’s not a name. Let’s be real, everyone tryna’ Kwesta the game.,” raps Kwesta on the eight minute long track.

The song goes against the grain in both structure and content. There is no chorus or sample that you can jump on or singalong to, but just pure rap lines.  Think of Rick Ross’ famous and iconic intros on Deeper Than Rap and Teflon Don albums then you get a glimpse of how Kwesta approached this song. The addition of YoungstaCPTsolidified the track as he brings the Cape Flats flavour into the single,  highlighting the harsh realities that come with trying to break into South Africa’s almost impenetrable hip hop landscape.
