Fresh the release of his EP Mirage, acclaimed Nigerian-born, Maryland-based musician Mannywellz has dropped the visuals to his eccentric, afrosoul (his debut prject), dancehall EP opener, Peace featuring fellow Nigerian artist, Tems. From touring with Jidenna and collaborating with Wale, Mannywellz’s career and music seem to be going on an upward trajectory.

The music video is set in the high mountains of Los Angeles, California, and features some of the most beautiful landscape scenery that encapsulates the meaning of the song’s title. Mannywellz (real name Emmanuel Ajomale), delivers a solid performance that will have listeners throwing peace signs and swaying hips. Tems (real name Temilade Openiyi) compliments the feel of the song well; she looks stylish and breath-taking while laying down smooth vocals over the laid-back house instrumental with a scintillating baseline.

Manny seems to epitomise the meaning of the word “artist”. Infusing different elements into his music such as afro, soul, Nigerian sounds, American R&B, rap, pop and numerous other sounds, the 27-year-old’s creativity gives listeners a unique experience. The smooth blend of genres littered through the Mirage EP will give fans and first-time listeners alike an enjoyable listening experience even if you’re not a fan of a particular genre.

When asked about the release of his new music video, Mannywellz had this to say;
“Peace is really special to me because it came from a vulnerable place. We all have one or multiple things that we want to get rid of.”

Manny and Tems have been making waves in their own right, whether it’d be working on Grammy award-winning work (American Dreamers, Voices of Hope) or collaborating with Wizkid (also check-out Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ featuring Tems), it’s beautiful seeing African artists shine on an international scale.
