Sliqe Releases new hit single “Standat” ft Darkie Fiction

Johannesburg, February 8: After the success of Sliqe’s sophomore album Navy Black, SAMA Award winning producer, Sliqe, returns with a new single Standat featuring alternative group, Darkie Fiction.

Sliqe is stepping up the game with no signs of slowing down on his drive to create new sounds that will be listened to by generations to come.

His recent collaboration on “#Standad” featuring Darkie is not the first project as the duo worked together previously on a documentary titled “Little America” which was a quest to uncover the workings of the South African music industry and as musicians, they find it disturbing how commercial music in the country sounds more Westernised than local, a conversation which has been long overdue from some of the country’s musical giants.

Sliqe seems so fired up on working with Darkie on his latest single “Standard”.

“I called Darkie Fiction because I was looking for someone who could cut through all the noise. They sound like fresh nostalgia. We’ve heard everything in Kwaito and Mozonkonko, and with every year and wave there are new people”, said Sliqe.

The award winning producer continued to say, “#Standat is the standard, what you stand on. The level that you’ll never go lower than, what you stand for. If your standard is solid and you know where you come from, you must keep that up and always remember it”.

Sliqe spent most of 2018 working on his new album, and he was already close to home when the duo agreed to the studio session.

His step-up game and empowering himself with more skill and has decided to taken the initiative on creating the beats himself.
