South Africa Olympic Champion Caster Semenya is on the latest cover of Forbes Women Africa, ending the year on a great note. The 27-year-old middle-distance runner took to social media to share the good news with her fans. The December issue will detail Caster Semenya’s life and her winning against all odds.This year has been tough Caster, from hard-earned celebrations to legal battles, there couldn’t have been a better time to honour the public figure who has become a great inspiration, both in the LGBTI community and the sports industry.
The gold medalist has been quite topical this year as many of her fans rallied behind her after the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) introduced a new rule that would force Semenya to take medication to lower her testosterone levels, and she has since taken legal action against the association. In the midst of all that drama, the athlete has had a lot to celebrate this year as she obtained her sports science qualification, joined the Nike “Greats” viral campaign with renowned athletes like of Serena Williams and Colin Kaepernick, and even got an opportunity to meet her idol, Lebron James who went to watch her race.
