It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to one of South Africa’s great actresses, Shoki Makgapa.
The details of Shoki Mokgapa’s cause of death have not been publicly announced. Television production company, Clive Morris Productions released this statement on Instagram. The award-winning actress starred in various iconic television shows including, The Lab, Intersexion and recently The Docket on SABC 3.
Shoki proved her versatility by dipping her fingers in films such as, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, Nothing for Mahala and Afrikaans film, Sink, whereby she scooped the prestigious SAFTA award earlier in 2017 for best actress, she also went on to win the best actress award at the KykNet Silwerskerm Film Festival. The multitalented actress has also tasted international success with roles on American drama series, The Looming Tower on Amazon Prime Video.
Dynamite truly comes in small packages and Shoki was proof of this. The petite actress was a SAFTA award winning actress and marvel to watch on our television and big screens. Whatever role she was assigned to portray, Shoki always brought her A- game. Her craft was her pride and she had the ability to lose herself in a character and make you as an audience forget that she is even acting.
May her soul Rest In Peace!!
