Foreign Nationals In Fear For Their Live In Soweto

Foreign nationals in Soweto are seeking refuge at a police station due to their shops being raided by locals, who are accusing them of selling ‘fake and expired food’.

Shopkeepers deny these allegations and media reporters on the scene have only found products that appear to be within their warranty period.

A total of 27 people have been arrested in connection with violence in Soweto against foreign nationals and vandalism of their stores. Three people have died as a result of the violence.

There has been widespread looting of those very same ‘fake and expired’ goods, with the protests spreading to neighbouring communities. Locals are taking bucket full of the same products they deem unfit to be sold for consumption.

Police are said to remain in and around the area, until the matter is resolved.
