The South African Afro Music Awards Are On The Way

The South African Afro Music Awards are back this year with their third annual extravaganza. If you have been following the awards, in recent years they have been situated in some of the country’s most beautiful cities of Cape Town as well as Johannesburg. Afro music has been going through a transition from the time of Bubble Gum, Jazz and Kwaito. The South African Afro Music Awards was born in honour of recognising the Afro music genre which has taken the continent and the world by storm. In 2015, Csuns Holdings had their inaugural SAAFMA, which was an exclusive event hosted solely for important industry trendsetters and musicians. This year is nothing like the rest, because the SAAFMA committee is inviting the public to join in on celebrating the Diamond of the South African entertainment industry, Afro Music. You can look forward to a night of intoxicating music, and riveting energy as we go on a musical journey through the evolution of the music genre. If you were lucky enough to be invited to the exclusive invitation only Nominees Announcement function on the 28th of June 2018 at Freedom Park, you would understand the level of talent expected to be on display come the 4th of August 2018 at Big Top Arena, Carnival City in Johannesburg.

The SAAFMA’s is intended to appreciate all the musical talent that has contributed to the true nature and essence of what it means to sing Afro Music. In recent years the coveted Life Time Achiever Award has been given to the legendary Caiphus Semenya, Mama Yvonne ChakaChaka and the late Ray Phiri.

This years event is expected to receive performances by the ever so talented Nathi Mankayi, Siphokazi, Ntando, Vuyokazi, Zamo, Phinda and Zandi Khumalo just to mention a few. Some of our Nominees vary from Sjava, Amanda Black, Semito, Ndyebo, Afrotraction, Sindi Nene and The Nameless Band. These individuals have proved their steady contribution to the legacy and heritage of the African Soul.
