Multi-award winning rapper, AKA (born Kiernan Forbes) has inked a new major deal with Reebok. AKA, who’s been low key on social media platforms, took to twitter to announce the big news.
“Proud to announce that AKA is now officially the face of ReebokClassics AFRICA
#ClassicAKA #ForeverClassic” – the Congratulations rapper tweeted.
The rapper joins a global campaign with hip-hop trap star Future, super model Gigi Hadid and rap duo Rae Sremmurd. The ambassadorship deal is the first of its kind in Africa between the sport brand and an artist, aiming to empower and elevate talent.
The shoe brand is shifting its investment focus from working with pro-athletes to empower local entertainment talent.
“At Reebok Classics, our goal is to celebrate the timeless. The icons that live beyond the present. Those who stay true to themselves. It is with this in mind that we are extremely proud to welcome the undeniably influential and talented AKA to the Classics family. AKA has proven himself as a true Classic by defining himself as one of Africa’s biggest and longstanding names in the music industry. We believe that he has already stood the test of time and will continue with his meteoric rise for many years to come. We believe that AKA is, and will remain, Forever Classics,” said PJ Morilly, Brand Director of Reebok South Africa.
Not only is Reebok partnering with AKA on an artist-brand level, but the urban shoe brand has also joined forces with the rapper’s company, Beam Group. Congrats to ‘Ta’Ka Kairo’ (Kairo’s Dad) on his new deal!
