International stars such as British singer Estelle, Grammy-nominated American R&B singer Kelly Price and Gospel singer Yolanda Adams, will perform at the inaugural Essence Festival in Durban. They will be joined by US comedian and television host Steve Harvey, civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton and fitness expert Shaun T.
Local artists who will grace the stage are world renowned DJ/Producer Black Coffee, actress and singer Nondumiso Tembe, Kwaito group Big Nuz, Wololo hitmaker Babes Wodumo, DJ Zinhle and award wining Afro-jazz musician Thandiswa Mazwai.
“This inaugural Essence Festival Durban will bring together voices of influence and power from the continent of Africa, the United States and around the globe to connect communities and empower women,” said Essence President Michelle Ebanks in a statement.
The festival is scheduled to take place from 8-13 November in Durban at the International Convention Center and the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
