BERITA PLAYS ON HER HEART STRINGS WITH SONGS IN THE KEY OF LOVE, HER 4TH ALBUM
Written by Nomfundo Tshabalala on February 14, 2020
The winds of change are coming, and love is in the air… It’s a love revolution! The anthemic first single, aptly titled “Jikizinto,” speaks to this. The quietly fierce multi-award winning and platinum-selling guitarist singer-songwriter, Berita is bursting with love and hot on the heels of her 2019 Amapiano remix for the hit single Ndicel’ikiss her latest single is already blazing up the radio waves debuting at #20 on the Metro FM Top 40 this past weekend.
Today, Valentine’s Day, the single is finally available for streaming on all digital platforms, a week after she initially promised us but right on time. She more than made up for delay to her fans when she announced that the single would drop with the album pre-order/pre-save of her much anticipated 4th studio album Songs in The Key of Love, which is due to be released on Friday, February 28th.
If the singles Jikizinto, Yours, and the Ndicel’ikiss are anything to go by then we genuinely can’t wait to unpack the full love epic, without further delay.
The Zimbabwe-born beauty spent 2019 quietly working up a storm. She found her independence, establishing her own recording and talent management company Assali Music, she bought the masters to her first two albums, played major festival stages, released 3 Top 40 singles, her Ndiceli’ikss short-film was entered into more than 30 international film festivals and the single was picked up for an international Netflix feature film, Holiday In The Wild, starring Rob Lowe and Kristin Davis. She was awarded her second Zim-Achievers Award as well as an Afro-soul Song of The Year Award at the SkyzMetro Awards in her hometown of Bulawayo.
The B in Berita is clearly for booked and busy, that’s not going unnoticed as she has been sure to keep her social media buzzing with her every move. The industry is definitely taking more serious note of the formidable business woman she’s developed into and in 2019 she was honoured along-side the legendary PJ Powers at the 16th annual Moshito Music Conference and Exhibition, which is also known as the continent’s grandest music business gathering.
“I am very excited about Jikizinto finally dropping. I feel like this is song is fun and embraces the spirit of love and forgiveness. The song speaks about a partner who is overjoyed at the return of her long-lost lover. Something I believe many people will relate to. The upcoming album Songs in the Key of Love carries a spirit of celebrating love and romance. I cannot wait to share it with my fans” – Berita.
